Chomp is a screen saver module for After Dark, by Berkely Systems Inc. If you don’t have After Dark, Chomp will be of no use to you (although, you might be able to use the sounds). To install Chomp, all you need to do is to drag it into the After Dark Files folder in your System Folder.
Using Chomp
Chomp eats away the screen, starting from the edges. After it has eaten all of the screen, it will eat it again in another color. It always starts in black. You can change the size of the bites Chomp takes with the “Bitesize” slider. Likewise, the “Appetite” slider controls how fast the screen will be eaten. If you select “Clear Screen First,” the screen will be wiped out in a color other than black before it is eaten. On systems with Color QuickDraw, a “Use Color” checkbox will appear. Selecting this enables Chomp to eat the screen in different colors.
Sound
If Chomp is run under After Dark version 2.0 or better, you have the choice of hearing the screen being eaten. It uses three chomping ‘snd ’ resources that you can use in other programs such as HyperCard. If you haven’t upgraded to After Dark 2.0, do it now!
Shareware Notice
Chomp is shareware. This means that you can try it out for 15 days, and give away as many copies as you like, without paying a dime. But if you decide to keep Chomp, you really ought to send in the $5 shareware fee. This small fee shows your support for shareware programs in general, and is a way of paying me back for the time I put into Chomp. Even if you don’t keep Chomp, at least send me a note or Email telling what you think about it. And, of course, if you find a bug, report it!
